Minister of Defence - Mr. Anyu Angelov and the Cheif of Defence - Gen. Simeon Simeonov took part in the the finishing on 31 Jan 2012 national scientific conference: 'Allied and national security and defence in the context of the dynamic changes in the geopolitical environment and the more rational usage of the reduced military expenditures in NATO and EU countries'. The conference has been organized by the Association of the Officers in the Reserve (AOR) 'Atlantic' in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Association of Communication and Information Specialists. Association of the Officers in the Reserve 'Atlantic' in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Association of Communication and Information Specialists organize a National scientific conference: „Allied and national security and defence in the context of the dynamic changes in the geopolitical environment and the more rational usage of the reduced military expenditures in NATO and EU countries“.

By Decrees of the President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Bulgarian Armed Forces - Mr. Georgi Parvanov (from 01.12.2011), Bulgarian navy officers were awarded with senior military ranks. Couter Admiral Plamen Manushev was appointed as a 'Deputy Chief of Defense' and was awarded with the senior officer rank 'Vice Admiral'. Commodore Rumen Nikolov was appointed as a commander of the Bulgarian Navy Forces and was awarded with the senior officer rank 'Counter Admiral'. Navy Captain I rank Mitko Petev was appointed as a 'Commander of the Burgas Naval Base' and was awarded with the senior officer rank 'Commodore'. The Managing Board of AOR 'Atlantic' congratulates Commodore Petev and sends greeting addresses to: Vice Admiral Plamen Manushev and Counter Admiral Roumen Nikolov.

429. The general was an

On June 7, 2011 the Chairman of AOR 'Atlantic' accompanied by the Managing
Board members: Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Dinko Ivanov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatogor
Minchev have been welcomed from the ambassador of the Republic of France - HE
Mr. Philippe Autié. During the meeting the Managing

On 7 June 2010 in the Central Military Club was signed a cooperation agreement between AOR "Atlantic" and the Union of alumni of HIS MAJESTY the military school, a school for reserve officers and patriotic armies and citizenship. On April 05, 2010. French scientist Dr. François Frison-Roche was appointed as an honorable member of AOR "Atlantic". Dr. Frison-Roche is a PhD in political science and researcher at the Research Center for Political and Administrative Science (CERSA) at the University Pantheon-Asas (Paris 2). He is also chairman of the Alliance France-Bulgaria, which aim is drawing closer together of the two countries.

On March 31, 2010 at the National Palace of Culture, the French scientist Dr. François Frison-Roche presented his book "The Half President Model as an Instrument of Transition in Postcommunist Europe".
After the presentation of the book, Mr. Frison-Roche was awarded the hanger from the AOR "Atlantic".
Dr. Frison-Roche agreed to become honorary member of AORA.

The Managing Board of AORA at its meeting held on 22.12.2009 took an unanimous decision to invite Dr. Zhelyu Zhelev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria (1990-1997) to become an honorary member of AORA for extraordinary contributions to the democratization of the country and its membership in NATO and the European Union. Dr. Zhelev gratefully accepted honorary membership in AORA.

On 29 November 2009 took place a meeting of the Managing Board of the Association of the Officers in the Reserve “Atlantic” and they adopted unanimously for a Honorary Member of the Association, Mr. Boyko Noev - former Minister of Defense of Bulgaria in the UDF government by the end of 1999 until mid-2001.

The member of AORA Maj. Dr. Velizar Shalamanov (ret.) was appointed for “Director Sponsor Account NATO and Nations” in NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency (www.nc3a.nato.int). The Managing Board of AORA wish him success on this very high and responsible position in NATO.

In November 2008 a CONFEDERATION OF ORGANIZATIONS OF PUBLIC SECURITY AND DEFENSE (COPSD) was established. The Association of the offecers in the reserve "Atlantic" is a co-founder of COPSD and the Chiarman of the Managing Board of AORA is a member of the Confederal Board of COPSD. COPSD together have around 15000 members.

Col. Ivan Ionchev (ret.), AORA member having member certificate 21, has been in Baghdad, Iraq since 08 May 2004. He is included in Golf Regional Division from U.S. Army - Corps of Engineers as security consultant on guarding of Green Zone.

On April 21, 2004 (Wednesday) at 6.00 pm took place a general meeting of the members of AORA in Hall 1 of Officer's Club, Sofia. It was attended by the following official guests: Col. John Savel - defence attache of the United Kingdom in Bulgaria and Commander Christopher McDonald - Navy attache of the USA in Bulgaria. Col. Richard Ciaglinski (former defence attache of the United Kingdom in Bulgaria) was elected for distinguished member of the Association. Commander Veselin Genov (ret.) was elected for regional coordinator in Varna and major general Dimitar Dimitrov was elected for regional coordinator in Stara Zagora. New members were elected. The members have taken a decision for more close collaboration with Officer's Legion "Rakovski".

Bulgaria, together with six other eastern European countries, were welcomed into NATO on Friday, April 2, 2004 as their national flags were hoisted for the first time at an official ceremony in front of Brussels headquarters.The national flags of Bulgaria and the other six newest NATO members were raised in Sofa, between the buildings of the Council of Ministers and the Presidency on April 2, 2004.
The Bulgarian flag, together with the flags of the other seven new NATO members, was hoisted for the first time at the NATO military headquarters in Belgium. The flags raising ceremony was held in Mons and was attended by Gen. James Jones, NATO's supreme allied commander Europe and Bulgaria's Army Chief Gen. Nikola Kolev.
